Optimize — Tariff-smart dispatch that maximizes savings every day
Monitor — Tariff-smart dashboards that prove the savings are real

Commercial storage economics are a puzzle.
We help you solve it.

TOU periods, seasonal demand charges, NBCs, export credits — the interactions are complex. WattChop turns that complexity into a clear financial case that helps close deals faster.

Find the sweet spot

Every C&I project has a point of maximum return — where additional battery capacity stops paying for itself. WattChop finds it fast, so you can recommend the right size with confidence.

Every tariff is different

The optimal system for a PG&E B-20-P customer isn't the same as SCE TOU-GS-2-D. WattChop normalizes any rate structure into a standard optimization framework, so you get accurate results for every project.

Numbers that close deals

Full methodology documentation. Interval-level simulation. Audit-ready outputs. Give your customers — and their lenders — the financial transparency they need to say yes.

Load your data, explore your building's energy fingerprint — all free. When you're ready, we solve the riddle.

1

Load Your Data Free

Upload Green Button data, CSV intervals, or synthesize a load profile from your monthly utility bills. Works with or without smart meters. The more detail you provide, the sharper the picture.

2

Energy Fingerprint Free

See your building's complete energy profile — peak demand, load factor, TOU exposure, seasonal patterns, and building classification. The insight that opens the conversation with your customer.

3

Solve the Riddle

Our Tariff Smart optimizer finds the exact battery size that maximizes savings — with the math to prove why bigger isn't always better. First analysis free. No credit card required.

Your Energy Fingerprint

Before you size anything, understand the load. Upload interval data or synthesize it from monthly utility bills — WattChop maps consumption against the tariff to reveal when energy is used, what it costs, and where solar + storage delivers the most value. The more detail you provide, the sharper the picture.

The analysis that doesn't stop at the proposal

Most tools give you a sizing recommendation and walk away. WattChop uses the same tariff engine to size the system, optimize daily operations, and verify savings — so the numbers in your proposal match reality.

  • Diminishing returns curve at every kWh increment
  • Demand vs. energy savings breakdown
  • Daily dispatch schedules tuned to the tariff
  • Performance tracking against projections
  • Audit-ready methodology at every phase

Hardware agnostic. Channel ready.

We don't sell batteries — we help you size, dispatch, and verify them. WattChop works with any hardware, any installer, any project. Manufacturers and distributors use us as a channel-ready platform to support their EPC partners.

Frequently asked questions

What if I don't have interval data at all?

That's exactly what the WattChop Synthesizer is for. Enter your monthly kWh from utility bills, select your building type, and we'll generate a realistic load profile. Add monthly peak demand or spend data to sharpen the results. It's enough to scope the project, build the energy fingerprint, and start the optimization conversation. When real interval data becomes available, you can upload it and re-run for a precise recommendation.

How accurate is the synthesized load profile?

It depends on what you give us. Monthly kWh and building type gets you a directional estimate — enough to scope the project. Add monthly peak demand and the load shape tightens significantly. Add monthly spend and we can cross-check against the tariff. Add location and we correlate with weather patterns. The more detail you provide, the sharper the picture. We clearly label synthesized data so there's no ambiguity, and you can re-run with real interval data anytime for a precise result.

What format does my interval data need to be in?

We accept CSV files with a timestamp column and a kW or kWh column. Green Button XML exports work too. The platform auto-detects 15-minute, 30-minute, or hourly intervals and normalizes everything to 15-minute resolution. If your data has gaps, we'll interpolate short ones and flag longer ones so you know exactly what's measured versus estimated.

Are the savings guaranteed?

No — and you should be skeptical of anyone who says they are. WattChop provides a rigorous projection based on your actual load data and the tariff math. But real-world performance depends on installation quality, weather variation, equipment behavior, and whether the dispatch schedule is actually followed. What we do guarantee: the methodology is transparent, every number is traceable to source data, and the analysis is audit-ready for lenders and stakeholders.

How do I know the recommended battery size is right?

Every analysis includes a diminishing returns chart that shows savings at every battery increment. You can see exactly where the curve flattens — where the next 50 kWh of capacity adds $200/yr instead of $5,000/yr. The recommendation is the point of maximum return, not just the biggest system we can spec. Every dollar of projected savings is traceable to specific demand charge reductions and energy arbitrage.

What's in the Analysis report?

Optimal battery sizing with kW and kWh recommendation, annual savings projection with demand vs. energy breakdown, diminishing returns curve across battery sizes, monthly bill comparison (baseline vs. optimized), dispatch preview showing how the battery operates on a typical day, and full methodology documentation. It's designed to answer the question lenders and site owners always ask: "how do you know?"

Do you sell batteries or hardware?

No. WattChop is technology-agnostic — we don't sell, install, or maintain hardware. That means we have zero incentive to oversize your system. The optimization is driven entirely by the tariff and the load. Manufacturers and distributors use WattChop as a channel-ready tool to support their EPC partners with independent, credible analysis.

What if my tariff isn't listed?

Send us the rate book. We'll build your tariff within 2 business days for $100 — full TOU schedule, demand charges, seasonal variations, and export programs. Once it's built, it stays on the platform and is maintained for all future projects on that rate.

What's the difference between Analysis, Dispatch, and Dashboard?

Analysis sizes the system before it's built — the report that gets the project approved. Dispatch generates daily charge/discharge schedules after installation — the optimization that maximizes savings every day. Dashboard tracks actual performance against projections — the proof that savings are real. Most projects start with Analysis. The same tariff engine powers all three.

Can I run this on a project that already has solar installed?

Yes — this is one of the most common scenarios. Many C&I sites have existing solar (sometimes under a PPA) and want to add storage. WattChop handles existing PV systems natively, including situations where the solar is owned by a third party. The analysis optimizes the battery against the net load after solar production.

How long does the analysis take?

The optimization itself runs in about 90 seconds. End to end — load data (upload or synthesize), select tariff, configure system, run analysis — most users go from zero to a complete sizing recommendation in about 15 minutes. If you're synthesizing from utility bills, the data entry takes a couple extra minutes. The bottleneck is usually getting the interval data from the utility, not the platform.

Is the first analysis really free?

Yes. Sign up (30 seconds, no credit card), create unlimited projects, upload or synthesize interval data, and explore your energy fingerprints — all free, forever. Your first optimization analysis is also on us. You get the full result — optimal sizing, savings projection, diminishing returns curve, and methodology documentation. After that, analyses are $250 per project with volume discounts available.
